Saw it last night. I thought it was delightfully funny and better than the first. The two people I went with liked the first one better, though. Of course, they also like really bad puns, which the first one was full of. Still some puns in this one, just not as many.
The story line seemed better suited to a tv cartoon rather than an entire movie but I was never watching it for the story anyway. Using Antonio Banderas' for the voice of Puss in Boots was genius and made for my favorite character. There were a lot of funny little details, like when one "Farbucks" shop gets crushed the patrons run out screaming and into another one directly across the street.
If you're in the mood for light-hearted fun go see it.

What I've been wondering is...just how kid friendly is it? I think the first one...is really borderline...if not already way over it....

This was really a funny movie.
As Warren said, Antonio Banderas was great.
Lots of little funny parts everyone can relate too.
This would be good for kids, also great for adults.

Saw this last night, and I'm still snickering over it! It was really, really entertaining. You know when you're laughing so hard that no sound comes out, just that open-mouthed, body-convulsing wheeze, where it looks like you're batting at flies? There were many of those moments for me during the flick.
If you need to escape the real world for awhile, this is a wonderful diversion!

I'm taking my son to see it this weekend. I've heard that it is both kid and parent friendly, because the little things in it that parents like, most kids won't even notice, like the 'Farbucks' thing.
I'm taking my son this weekend to see it also, I heard it was pretty good, from some friends of mine at work.
Hmm, those of you with kids...I'll wait until you guys post up about the movie before I take my 6 year old to see it.

I really liked it too! I saw it last night. Was really good! :)
As for being kid friendly...it is rated PG I think. So use some discretion. It's got the body humor, as usual...but nothing too offensive I don't think.

For those of you concerned about kids seeing it, don't be. I took my wife and kids to see it when it opened and we came to the conclusion that it was definately appropriate and my wife is a LOT more conservative than I. It's absolutely worth it and better than the first.
BUT...the price of going to the movies these days is horific! Especially the junk food. I would rather just buy the DVD and stay at home and watch it two or three times.
Hmm, ok...well, I guess I'll take the kid to see it soon. Thanks for the info, guys.
Shrek 2 was one funny movie lots of adult hummer and just as much kid hummer, I thought is was funnier than the first one and also more kid friendly.
What a great movie.
It was a story of love.
it was a story about being yourself.
It was a story of perseverance and changing for those you love.
It was a story of parents thinking they know best for their offspring. :P
I really enjoyed the opening sequence of them in their honeymoon, and the final sequence.

I saw it and didn't laugh as much as I was thinking I would. Kind of disappointed. I know you all thought it was good and all the critics thought it was good, but I didn't think it was good. Is something wrong with me?

Maybe because in the story you can relate more to the prince charming, you know all looks and no personality and a jerk to boot.
Me on the other hand am the ogre, while big an oaf, ugly, fat... have a heart the size of your ego and ....!
