Ortega/Trabuco Canyon Ride, Saturday 10/5

I wanna go cruise this Saturday. I want to explore this trabuco canyon rd. but it's so damn close to ortega that we might as well hit up ortega as well.

so I'm thinking we could meet up in huntington at the mobil 16001 on beach blvd, possibly pick up some folks @ ortega as well.

we'll get some fast twisties on ortega and then go exploring!

I wanna cruise pretty early but I'll wait around a bit to get some riding company.

I was thinking of getting to ortega by 8 on Sat

Careful on the Ortega........

near the top of the mountain...........east side..........going down........a little pass "The Look Out" (about 600 to 700 yards?) ................. there are 2 huge gouges on the pavement (on a blind curve)................practically pot holes.........

These scars are fresh................don't know what caused them.....

How was the Ortega ride?
I did 250miles today (Sunrise Highway, a few times up and down Palomar, and Mesa Grande were the Highlights you could say I suppose). It was kinda weird because there was hardly anyone out. I like had the roads to myself. Wasn't til I got to PMtn that I came across any bikes and even then just a handleful. More bikes and cops seemed to be going up when I left the area around 12:30. What a beautiful, perfect day. I had a great time riding as usual. The SV is just so awesome.

Anyone know the story on the yellow SV that was trailered away at Palomar today?

Was it on a tow truck trailer? because usually when their is a bike on a trailer and its not wrecked....That means the cops got another unlicensed rider.
I've seen that a few times on ortega.

Bke on the trailer...rider walking with his thumb up.... how humiliating.

ortega was pretty good, the traffic was pretty light and Kurt and I ended up meeting up with Rod and Jay. There was a rider down on a honda hawk, looked like he ran it into the side of a hill pretty hard and he looked to be hurt but coherent.
After the ortega we tried to cruise on some roads I found in my thomas guide, turns out the cool roads I'd found weren't roads at all, they were lousy unpaved trails. All the SVer's stayed shiny side up and I was finally the slowest rider in the group! About time!

Yeah that sucked about the guy crashing so hard on Ortega yesterday, especially since we just saw him before he ate it.

It was nice to finally talk with Rod (Setter). What's funny is that he does indeed talk like he types. He'll say a few words............ pause.........then speak a few more.........very captain Kirk like ..........just with an accent.

What ever he slammed off of................he did it reeeaaalll good.................poor guy. He looked coherent when we passed him though.

i rode today, alllll the way to victoville.. jsut me and the I-15 it wasnt too bad, and i saw another SV in the back of some guys truck.. he waved and i pointed to my sticker on myhelmet.. maybe he'll show up here...

sorry i missed the ride.. however, i will be riding from HB to SD on 10/18, and doing palomar and/or julian the 19 (sat) with my pal on his nice new yello Duc 748...

ill post details later... if anyone in SD wants to meet up, were gonna ride downtown and chill out friday night...
